HP Sure Admin
HP Commercial PCs with the HP Sure Admin feature offer enhanced security by allowing access to firmware through public/private key pair-based security, which is more secure than a password-based solution. While this feature works seamlessly for remote firmware management by an administrator, situations may arise where local IT personnel or users need to authenticate their identities to the firmware, such as accessing the BIOS F10 Setup.
In these scenarios, the firmware will present a QR code, which can be scanned by the local IT person using the HP Sure Admin Mobile application. This scanning process generates a one-time PIN that can be entered into the firmware for user authentication. This approach ensures additional security and simplifies the authentication process for local users needing access to the firmware.
