Kodable Basics
Kodable is an award-winning coding curriculum designed for children ages 4-10. It is trusted by over 50% of US Elementary Schools and teaches kids the fundamentals of computer science, starting from scratch and progressing to JavaScript. No prior experience is required.
With Kodable, children can explore the world of coding alongside the fuzzFamily, their new friends. The platform allows kids to play and create their own games, with content suitable for all age levels. They can navigate through the technomazes of Smeeborg, traverse the asteroid fields of Asteroidia, and venture into the slime-infested plains of Bug World, all while learning important computer science concepts.
The curriculum of Kodable features age-appropriate games and activities that guide children from learning how to think like a programmer to actually writing real code. They will learn concepts such as sequence/order of operations, algorithmic operations, conditional logic statements, syntax, variables, object-oriented Programming , classes, and subclasses, properties, and methods.
Kodable also offers additional benefits for teachers, as it is aligned with Common Core and CSTA Standards. It provides a complete K-5 curriculum that helps students develop programming skills from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Teachers do not need any prior computer science knowledge to use the curriculum. It includes over 80 scripted lesson plans, a complete scope and sequence for each grade, on-screen activities for students, and integration with platforms like Google Classroom and Clever Login.
Coding with Kodable is a valuable experience for children, even before they fully understand the concept of algorithms. It helps them develop problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and higher-level thinking skills. By learning computer science, children are equipped for the jobs of the future and learn to solve problems in intelligent ways.
Kodable offers a subscription-based service, with payment being charged to the iTunes Account. The subscription automatically renews unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
