Consumer Reports
This text is about Consumer Reports, a nonprofit and independent organization that provides expert buying guides and unbiased ratings and reviews for various products and services. They test products in their labs and do not accept advertising, ensuring that consumers have unbiased information to make informed purchasing decisions.
The Consumer Reports app is free to download and provides immediate access to buying guides. However, access to product ratings and reviews is only available to Digital or All Access members. Non-members can sign up for a monthly or annual Digital membership within the app to gain access to all features. Some of the features include access to ratings for 8,500+ products and services, the ability to search or browse by product or brand, see scores for chosen models and the best and worst in each category, and free car seat ratings and recommendations.
The app also allows users to browse and compare products side by side, save products for future research, receive personalized recommendations based on their interests, and access ratings offline for convenience. Additionally, the app offers a Best Time to Buy calendar to find the best deals of the month and allows users to see prices and shop with online shopping partners.
For car-specific features, the app provides ratings and reviews for hundreds of cars and trucks. Users can identify best-in-class models using Consumer Reports’ Overall Score system, which considers road-test performance, reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety. The Car Finder feature helps users find their ideal vehicle match by allowing them to browse cars by type or specify preferred features, body style, and budget. The app also offers Consumer Reports road test video summaries and survey information based on 300,000 vehicles covering owner satisfaction and reliability.
