Elevate is True Sky Credit Union's latest financial education mobile app, designed to provide users with financial and budgeting education. The app includes a Reality Fair Course, which offers students a hands-on experience in managing their finances. Participants are given a career, starting salary, and budget worksheet, and are encouraged to live within their monthly salary while covering expenses like housing and utilities.
The app also offers additional choices such as entertainment, buying a pet, and traveling, allowing students to make decisions about their discretionary spending. Throughout the simulation, unexpected expenses, referred to as “Life Happens” events, are thrown at the students, such as car breakdowns and cell phone damage.
At the completion of the various scenarios, students who have successfully lived within their means and made sound financial decisions find that they have savings and are comfortable in their simulated life. On the other hand, students who lived beyond their means gain a better understanding of the importance of managing their finances.
Overall, Elevate provides a practical and interactive platform for students to learn and improve their financial literacy skills, helping them make informed financial decisions in their real lives.
