Backcountry Beta is a comprehensive resource that provides essential weather, terrain, and snowpack data to assist in planning safe backcountry ski tours. It offers avalanche forecasts for various zones in the U.S. and Canada, real-time snowfall and temperature data from backcountry weather stations, and hourly summit weather forecasts from NOAA. The platform also includes field observations from well-known avalanche centers. Users can access topographic slope maps to identify high-risk avalanche terrain, utilize the Munter calculator to estimate travel times based on GPX tracks, and create customized trip plans that highlight terrain and weather data. Additionally, users can record tracks and share snowpack observations with other backcountry users, as well as display weather and avalanche forecast widgets on their Home Screen. Some features, such as offline topo maps, point forecasts, snotel data, munter calculations, and customized trip plans, require a $2.99/year subscription. Subscription management and auto-renewal options are available through the app's profile tab or via iTunes account settings.
