The new Charts&Tides for iOS7 is a comprehensive marine software that offers charts, tides, GPS navigation, and more. The interface is user-friendly, and tasks have been streamlined for ease of use. Unlike other software, there is no need to download or manage individual charts, as large area charts combining information from multiple sources are provided. The software also integrates with the ActiveCaptain interactive cruising guidebook, granting access to marinas, anchorages, hazards, and local knowledge. The entire ActiveCaptain database is stored offline for constant accessibility. Additionally, the software supports waypoints, routes, tracks, and GPX format import and export. Navigation options include built-in GPS, external GPS via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and dead reckoning mode. The software also supports external AIS devices and Closest Point of Approach (CPA) computations. With a dark UI, the software is suitable for use during the day or at night. While the software includes a world base map, detailed marine charts can be purchased within the application, but they are not necessary for use.
