Museo Sannitico - BE
"Museo Sannitico" is an official app of the Sannitico Museum in Campobasso, designed and developed to improve accessibility, particularly for visually impaired individuals. With this app, users can explore the museum through two immersive paths that guide them through the history of the Sannio region as told by those who experienced it. The app also allows users to have tactile experiences along the paths, exploring the reproduction of certain "smart touch" objects.
The app offers two immersive paths:
- "Sanniti Experience": a journey that takes users back over 2,000 years to the heart of the Sannio region's history and its heroic struggle against the Roman Republic.
- "In viaggio con Asparukh": a path that allows users to relive the medieval era of the Sannio region through the story of the Bulgarian knights who settled here during the Lombard rule.
To begin the experience, users need to download the app, enable Bluetooth, visit the museum, and start exploring. Utilizing Beacon technology, the app recognizes the user's location and automatically plays the audio tracks at each stop along the path. When encountering a tactile object, users can touch it and listen to the accompanying information.
The app also includes in-depth content about the history and exhibitions of the museum, which can be accessed before or after the visit. Notably, the app does not contain any third-party advertisements or in-app purchases.
"Museo Sannitico" is developed by Heritage Srl, an innovative company dedicated to serving culture and research to innovate the experience of cultural assets.
The project is part of the Smart Cultural Heritage 4 All initiative, which aims to provide innovative accessibility for museums, exhibitions, and archaeological sites, particularly for people with disabilities and functional limitations. This project is conducted through a collaborative agreement between the University of Molise, the Molise Museum Complex, Heritage Srl, and the Center for Technological Aid Orientation Onlus, with the collaboration of the Italian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
