MyNiño
MyNiño is a smartphone application designed to help parents track their child's GPS location, dialed/received calls, and incoming/outgoing SMS messages. Parents can also set a boundary for their child's device using the geo-fence feature. The parent application receives notifications and reports of the child's calls, messages, visited locations, and any instances of breaking the geo-fence. Settings can be managed to receive these reports without accessing the child app on the child's device. However, for iPhone devices, the child app must be installed in order to receive call and message reports.
With MyNiño, parents can access reports including dialed and received calls, incoming and outgoing SMS messages, the child's phone contacts, visited locations, locations visited while breaking the geo-fence, and notifications for when the child's phone is switched off or out of range. Past reports for calls and messages are also available.
To use MyNiño, the parent must download the application from the iTunes store and install it on their device. They must then register and download the child application on the child's phone, following the instructions provided via email after successful registration and verification of the parent app. After installing the child app, the parent enters the child's name and their registered email ID/password. The child will then appear in the parent application, and the parent can view their reports by tapping on the child's name in the left panel. Notification and report settings can be managed in the parent application settings. Internet connectivity is necessary for generating reports, and it is important to note that continued use of GPS in the background may decrease battery life.
