Lunar Phase - Moon Calendar
Lunar Phase is an advanced lunar calendar app that provides instant Moon phase and eclipse information for the entire 21st century. With this app, users can track lunar and solar eclipses and explore the synodic cycle. The initial page of the app offers a quick glance at the present phase of the moon, visible percentage, age in days, distance, and the current zodiac constellation. It also displays the next four upcoming phases with exact phase times, moon rise and set times. The app includes named full moons such as Wolf, Snow, Worm, Pink, Flower, and more. If the app has access to the user's location, it also provides azimuth, altitude, and moon rise and set times for the present day based on the user's location.
The lunar calendar view shows the phase of the moon for each day of the month, highlighting the present date in green. All four phases of the moon, along with lunar and solar eclipses, supermoons, micromoons, and blue moons, are identified on this view. The calendar covers dates from January 2001 through December 2100. By selecting an individual day, users can access the detailed view for that day, where they can use the slider control to see information about every minute of the day, including lunar eclipse information.
The app also provides a solar eclipse view, listing all solar eclipses for the 21st century. Users can scroll through the list, select a chosen eclipse, and preview the entire eclipse through a static image. Total, annular, and hybrid eclipses have a map view option to explore, showing a countdown until the greatest eclipse.
Similarly, the app lists all lunar eclipses for the 21st century, totaling 228 eclipses. Users can scroll through the list chronologically and tap the title button to toggle between the top of the list and the next upcoming eclipse. The lunar eclipse detail view displays the elevation of the moon during the eclipse, along with start and end times and compass headings. Each stage of the eclipse is clearly identified with start, end, and duration.
The synodic cycle view showcases variations in the duration of the synodic month, from new moon to new moon. Users can pinch and spread the view to zoom in or out, seeing years and decades, and can also pan the view to explore dates visually or select any desired date from the picker.
In the settings view, users can customize the app by choosing to see distances in miles or kilometers, selecting preferred notifications for lunar phases and eclipses (up to 24 hours in advance), and using widgets to conveniently view the current phase and upcoming phases. An in-app subscription is available to remove ads.
