Météo-France Ski et Neige
The "Météo-France Ski et Neige" application has been completely redesigned. It is aimed at all winter sports enthusiasts, regardless of their activity: downhill skiing, off-piste skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and ski touring. The app covers all French mountain ranges, including the Alps, Pyrenees, Massif Central, Vosges, Jura, and Corsica, as well as the stations in Andorra. It provides weather forecasts, information on snow conditions, avalanche risk bulletins, and updated data for each of the 250 featured stations, such as Tignes, Les Arcs, La Mongie, Super-Besse, Les Rousses, and La Plagne.
The homepage simplifies the search for a station through a zoomable map or a list of favorites. The app's geolocation feature allows users to easily find the nearest stations. Users can select up to 6 favorite stations for quick access from their home screen.
For each station, the app provides four levels of information:
1. Weather forecasts:
- Forecasted weather for the next 14 days, with 3-hour intervals for the first 3 days.
- Minimum and maximum temperatures, wind speeds at the base and top of the slopes, gusts, snowfall or rainfall, and the altitude of the 0°C isotherm and rain/snow limit for each period.
- UV index for the first 4 days.
2. Snow conditions:
- Snow depth at the base and top of the ski area.
- Date of the last snowfall.
- Snow conditions (fresh, powdery, wet, icy, etc.).
- Off-piste snow depth at different altitudes on both the south and north-facing slopes.
- Continuous snow cover altitude.
- New comprehensive Mountain Snow and Avalanche Bulletins written by massif (Vercors, Mont-Blanc, Queyras, etc.) for high mountain areas.
3. Slopes:
- Number of open ski slopes by category (green, blue, red, black).
- Overall percentage of open slopes in the ski area.
- Access to the snow park and half-pipe if the station has them.
- Number of open kilometers of cross-country skiing trails.
- Snow depth at the top and bottom of the facilities.
4. Station information:
- Useful information for your stay, such as the coordinates of the tourist office.
- Direct access to webcams for each station to check snow conditions, sunlight, and slope congestion.
And always access to the vigilance map through the main menu.
