Rockd
Rockd is a platform that allows users to explore, learn about, and document their geologic surroundings. It caters to both professional geoscientists and individuals who are curious about the rocks and their stories. The app provides instant access to geologic and geographic summaries of the user's current location through a Dashboard. Users can also access interactive global geologic maps and explore the landscape using a dynamic 3D virtual globe. The app allows users to save maps for offline use and explore paleogeographic maps. Additionally, users can add their own field observations and track their progress through the geologic record privately or share it with others. Rockd is developed by the Macrostrat lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with support from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Geoscience.
