Iowa 511
Iowa 511 is the official traffic and traveler information app of the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) for both general travelers and commercial vehicle operators. It provides up-to-date traffic information for interstates, U.S. routes, and state highways in Iowa, but does not include information for county roads or city streets. The app offers various features such as hands-free audio announcements of upcoming traffic events, a zoom-enabled map with tappable traffic event icons and camera views, near real-time updates on winter road conditions and traffic incidents, trucker resources in Trucker Mode, and the ability to create a personalized account with saved routes, favorite camera views, and alerts via email and/or text. Other features include travel time delays, current traffic speeds, traffic camera images and streaming video throughout the state, snow plow camera images and locations, real-time weather radar, weather stations with alerting for inclement weather, statewide rest area locations with truck parking availability information, weigh station locations, citizen reports via Waze, and electronic message signs. The app also reminds users to avoid distracted driving and provides a link to the Iowa DOT's privacy policy.
