Yandex Translate
Yandex.Translate is a free translator that offers a wide range of features for translating text between languages. It allows users to translate between any pair of the 100 supported languages while online. Additionally, it provides the ability to translate from French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and other languages to English while offline by downloading the necessary language packs for free and enabling the offline mode in the app's settings.
The app also offers the option to speak words or phrases in Russian, English, or Turkish and have them translated into any of the supported languages, or have the app read out the translations. It includes a dictionary with usage examples for most of the supported languages, helping users learn new words and their meanings.
One of the standout features of Yandex.Translate is its ability to translate text from photos. Users can take a picture of a menu, road sign, book page, or choose a photo with text from their Camera Roll, and the app will provide an instant Translation right over the image (this feature is available only when online).
Furthermore, the app supports the translation of entire websites, both within the app itself and in Safari. It also offers the ability to read books, news, or articles in a foreign language alongside Yandex.Translate on an iPad using Split View.
The app supports the reading of transliterated Arabic, Armenian, Farsi, Georgian, Greek, Hebrew, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese Pinyin. It includes a predictive typing function and automated language detection, making the translation process more efficient.
Yandex.Translate allows users to save translations in Favorites and view their translation history at any time. Additionally, it is compatible with Apple Watch, allowing users to speak to their watch and see translations on its screen.
