The app also helps you manage and secure your child's account and data settings. You can protect their privacy by managing permissions for websites, extensions, and apps accessed through Chrome. Additionally, Family Link allows you to manage your child's account, change or reset their password if needed, edit personal information, and even delete their account if necessary.
Family Link keeps you connected with your family on the go by providing a feature to locate your children on a map, as long as they have their device with them. The app also sends notifications and alerts, such as when your child arrives or leaves a specific location, and allows you to ring their devices or check their battery life.
It is important to note that Family Link's tools may vary depending on your child's device. The app does not require approval for app updates, previously approved apps, or apps shared in the Family Library. However, parents should regularly review their child's installed apps and app permissions. Some pre-installed apps may not be able to be disabled.
To utilize the location feature, the child or teen's device must be powered on, active, and connected to the internet through data or Wi-Fi.
Family Link parental controls are only available for supervised Google accounts. With supervised accounts, children can access Google products like Search, Chrome, and Gmail, while parents can set up basic digital ground rules to supervise them.
While Family Link provides tools to manage your child's online experience and enhance their safety, it is important to remember that it does not make the internet safe.
