Fertility and Period Tracker

This abstract introduces an application that helps users determine their fertile days of the month in order to either achieve or avoid pregnancy. The application uses the date of the last period to calculate the date of the next period, the best days to conceive a baby, the ovulation day, and when to avoid pregnancy. The default method for predicting baby gender is based on the theory by Landrum Shettles, but the application also supports a scientific method based on research by Rodrigo Guerrero and the statistics of thousands of women. The full version of the application allows users to view data such as the probability of getting pregnant on any given day, the probability of conceiving a boy or girl, and the chances of getting pregnant or conceiving a specific gender during the current period. To utilize the application, users must input information including the first day of their last menstrual cycle, the average length of their menstrual cycle, and the length of the luteal phase. While the application works best for women with regular menstrual cycles, average cycle length is still a useful predictor for when ovulation may occur.
