California WIC App
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a federally-funded health and nutrition program that provides support and resources to families. It offers information on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, assistance with breastfeeding, access to healthcare and community services, and healthy food options from approved grocery stores. Participants must meet income guidelines and can include pregnant women, breastfeeding women, women who recently had a baby, and children up to the age of five. In California, the program is administered by 83 local WIC agencies, serving approximately 1.16 million participants each month. WIC is required by federal law to not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. To enhance participant experience, the California WIC App allows users to view appointments, check issued food benefits, scan item UPCs to identify approved products, and find location information for WIC stores and clinics in the state. The app aims to provide participants with convenience and ease during their shopping experience.
