FWAS–Fire Weather Alert System
The Fire Weather Alert System provides firefighters with crucial access to local weather measurements and forecasts to warn them of dangerous incoming weather that can lead to unexpected fire behavior. This system monitors nearby weather observations and forecasts to provide real-time information and map-based access to fire-specific weather data. Features include custom Weather alerts , viewing RAWS data, satellite hotspots, incident locations and fire perimeters, NWS watches, warnings and advisories, zone fire weather forecasts, and monitoring approaching storms with NEXRAD radar. By leveraging this technology, firefighters can better prepare for changing weather conditions and reduce the risk of being entrapped during firefighting operations.
