In Theory - Interval Keyboard
"In Theory" is a versatile MIDI keyboard app that offers over 110 scales for users to explore. The app features a keypad with interval buttons such as +2, +1, 0, -1, -2, allowing users to easily change the current note. Users can also toggle additional intervals in the scale to create chord voices or select notes from an octave above and below for rich, extended chords.
The app can be played using a MIDI keyboard, with specific keys triggering corresponding buttons on the keypad. Users can also toggle chord intervals using MIDI CC messages, set within the settings menu. Additionally, the app can be sequenced with other MIDI sequencer apps for expanded creativity.
"In Theory" supports custom scales created in the ScaleBud 2 app, as well as external changes to key and scale through a MIDI controller in AUv3 plugin. The UI includes a circular display to show the current scale position, and playing notes are visually represented along with the root note and chord intervals.
It is important to note that "In Theory" is a MIDI app and does not generate sound on its own. Users will need to connect the MIDI output to a compatible audio app, such as AUM or Cubase, to hear the music produced by the app.
